1.1 This website contains information related to the compounding of drugs collected during more than 30 years at the end of the 20th century in a medium sized hospital pharmacy in Switzerland and enlarged or completed by valuable advice of competent and independent consultants.

1.2 The information offered on this website is intended to support adequate compounding of essential and other important drugs mainly by hospital pharmacies in developing countries with a restricted health budget.

1.3 It is especially pointed out that any information placed on this website i.e. formulas and procedures have a tentative character and in any case have to be adapted to the locally available facilities as well as to the current legal regulations by competent professionals.

1.4 Tables and master records presented on this website have been created using open source software i.e. are based on OpenOffice.org 2.2, which is available in the internet free of charge. The source code therefore is accessible for validation purposes.

1.5 It is hoped that the information may encourage motivated pharmacists to improve the existent system and moreover to develop additional software facilitating integration of useful tools such as stock control of ingredients and materials, cost benefit calculations and statistics.

1.6 At a later date it is intended to make a forum accessible to experts for the exchange of information in various areas.

1.7 A number of links is presented with the intention to enable easy access to useful sources of information including guidelines, institutions, work groups etc.
